It is the winter time,  in the farm courtyard of Gubeikou town Gubeikou Village the villagers are concentrating on the hand-making of lanterns with the famous lantern master, known as the Chang Ming-Liang.

It is understood that this is a “craft-artists impart in countryside, farmers learn skills at home,” one of the series of activities organized by Beijing tourism and leisure agriculture trade associations, Beijing Toy Association, the County Tourism Bureau and Gubeikou town. Master Zhang led two disciples, brought lanterns production of raw materials to teach more than 50 villagers how to tailor and roll various festive lanterns.

In recent years, Gubeikou folk village have developed very rapidly, had over 60 households. The two committees determine to create “Beijing North lanterns first village” and organize villagers to learn the production of a variety of festive lanterns. Master Zhang imparts 21 kind of lanterns production methods which are easy to learn. It has not only increased the villagers manual skills and enriched the spiritual and cultural life of the villagers but also attracted more tourists and promoted the tourism development of Gubeikou folk Village.

In the Spring Festival Gubeikou Village will have a new dress of beautiful and unique lanterns streetscape. During the Spring Festival, tourists come here not only can admire the beautiful characteristics of the town, can also take part in learning how to make lanterns, and cut window grills, and other characteristics of the rich folk activities.
