Xiwengzhuang Town Folk Village
Xiwengzhuang Town is located at the foot of the famous Miyun Reservoir, which is one of the 33 central towns designated by Beijing City government. It was appointed by the city and county governments as the distributing center of tourism, inspected successively by our communists and national three-generation leaders--Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin. Xiwengzhuang has rich resources, and yields fresh-water fish of 1,500,000 kilograms per year and fresh vegetables with annual output of 10,000,000 kilograms. Visitors who come here from Beijing can enjoy the fresh fish of Miyun Reservoir, and appreciate its beautiful scenery. In addition, they can stay in Yumeng Resort, enjoying the country food and living in the country inn, and experience another kind of life of picking, fishing, riding horse and donkey.
Taishitun Town Folk Village
Taishitun Town Folk Village, one of the biggest towns in Miyun County, lies in the east of Miyun County and adjoins Miyun Reservoir, which is the experimental small-sized town approved by State Council in 1999. It is the stronghold on the way from Beijing to North China, with Jingcheng Road passing through the whole village. It has a number of mountains and is heavily forested, with rich water resources. There are Sigan Peak, Wuzhi Shan and Monkey Mountain, all of which are famous mountains on the outskirts of Beijing. There are seven rivers in Miyun County, three of which are right in Taishitun Town—Chao River, Andamu River, Qingshui River. In addition, among the mountains and on the bank of rivers, there are plenty of scenic spots. Besides the well-known Bailong Tan, Xianju Valley and Eighteen Jiulong Pool, there are dozens of tourist resources which are still uncovered by you but greatly worth viewing. For example, Sigan Peak, Chedao Valley, Simen Reservoir and Forty-Mu Field—all of them are of cultivable and suitable for developing tourism with various characteristics.
In recent years, the Folk travels have developed greatly. There have been 4 Folk villages, more than 300 families with about 1000 people dealing in folklore tourism. There are a variety of folk activities, including the most famous Butterfly Assembly of Bajiazhuang, Festive Lantern of Dongtiange Village, and various folk snacks, such as Sagao, flapjack, Sigao and so on.
Gubeikou Town Folk Resort
Gubeikou Town of Miyun County of Beijing City lies in the northeast of the capital, referred to as “the door of Yanjing” and “the important town of Beijing”. It has a long history, which is well known and attracts much attention both at home and abroad.

Xinchengzi Town Folk Village
The folk tourism was developed early in Xinchengzi Town, and Caojialu and Yaoqiaoyu, the two city-level Folk villages, are the models of the development of Beijing Folk villages.
Caojialu Village is 8 kilometers away from Yunxiu Valley scenic area, and 20 kilometers from Simatai Great Wall. Caojialu Folk Village faces Wulingshan, the peak of Yanshan. There are 740 families in the village which have established the Folk village with the setting of Wulingshan Dragon Pool scenic spot, including 150 Folk families. In order to create a tourist environment, a great sum of money has been invested in improving environment. It has built the gym park, man-made lake covering an area of 32mu. The water landscape has been formed with an area of 20mu, and the facilities of water entertainment have been provided. The streets and roads in scenic areas have been solidified, villages forested and beautified. In addition, it has built seasonal picking gardens for visitors covering an area of 350mu. It has formed one package service with the combination of food, accommodation, travel, sightseeing, leisure and entertainment.
Yaoqiaoyu Folk Village
Yaoqiaoyu Folk Village is the village which earliest developed the reception of folk tourism in Beijing city. It leads and contributes to the development Folk of Beijing areas. Yaoqiaoyu Castle was built in the 26th year of Emperor Wanli of Ming Dynasty, which is well preserved now. There live 50 families, the descendants of frontier officers and soldiers of Ming Dynasty. Nowadays, eighty percent of the families in the village have been engaged in folk tourism and the reception. The Folk families all have license and are well equipped with shower, cable television and computerized telephone. With its perfect systems, you can put up at the village or hold bonfire parties in the evening, and the open-air dancing hall is your ideal choice for dancing after dinner. The village provides standard lodging and food of reasonable price. In the village, you can enjoy various characteristic snacks, and experience the pleasures of living in country inn, eating country food and doing country work.

Shicheng Town Folk Village
Shicheng Town is located in the northwest of Miyun County, which reaches Baihe Valley to the north and Miyun Reservoir to the east, bordering on Huairou to the west. It covers an area of 252.8 square kilometers, and has set up Shitanglu Stop with convenient transportation. Since 1997, with the setting of some scenic areas like Heilong Pool and the First Peking Waterfall, Shicheng Town has vigorously developed Folk tourism, and established 8 Folk villages and 280 Folk families, including 151 families with county-level licenses , 62 families with both county and city level licenses. In Shicheng Town, you can enjoy some characteristic tourist activities as followed:
1. Spring outing and flower-enjoying
In spring, visitors can go on an outing and enjoy fully hill-covered azaleas, apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, pear flowers which are shiningly reflecting each other. In addition, they can pick kinds of natural edible wild herbs.
2. Folk activity
There are some activities provided, such as country-side bonfire, “Have Good Time in New Year”, folk yangko. In addition, you can learn some folk legends about this area. For example, it is said that Shitanglu Village played an important role in fighting against the Mongolia armies in ancient times as well as the Japanese aggressors at the modern times.
3. Folk sports for regaining childhood pleasure
They are iron-hoop-pushing, Fangbao, marble game, traitor-whipping, lattice-jump, Shabao pounding, shuttlecock kicking, jumping rope and so on.
4. Go to the education base for study
Intelligence Valley Inspecting Garden has been designated by Beijing Association for Science and Technology as one of 100 bases of technology and popular science education of the outskirts of Beijing. 5. Picking Festival in golden autumn
In golden autumn, visitors can pick golden silk jujubes, juicy peaches, apricots, pears and so on. The fruit trees are all fertilized with farmyard manure, so the fruits are all natural and green without any contamination. While picking the fruits, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Miyun Reservoir and climb the mountains covered with grass and flowers
6. Do-it-yourself country food
You can pick vegetables in the garden by yourself, and then cook the country food on your own. You can enjoy kinds of characteristic country snacks, such as millet congee, hominy, baked corn cakes, matelote, edible wild herbs, fried shrimps, rice cakes, and steamed sponge cakes, Chai chicken simmered with mushroom, Chai eggs, salted duck eggs and preserved ham.
